We took Landon this week to have his first cavity filled. He was very anxious & we were anxious for him! When we arrived Landon was weighed & then given meds to sedate him. We then sat in a quiet, dark room & read books & watched cartoons & waited an hour for the meds to take effect. The Dentist then came in & walked Aaron & I through what was going to take place amd offered for us to be in the room with him. We decided to stay with him, knowing how anxious he seemed. They took x-rays & got everything ready. They played an elephant nose hose on him & gave him laughing gas.
The Dentist then took care of the cavity-it was over very quickly. The entire time Landon was lying on a cozy blanket with his favorite blanket & watching cartoons.
He did really well & was very cute all loopy. The Dentist referred to everything he was doing during the procedure to children's things, such as the wedge he placed in Landon's mouth was a chicken nugget. At one point he mentioned the elephant nose & Landon said "toot, toot". That was the only funny thing he did or said though. Once the Dentist was finished, Landon received some oxygen and the Dentist spoke to us about instructions for the day.
On our drive home, Landon slept the entire way-he was exhausted. Once he woke though, he was really hungry as he hadn't had anything to eat or drink since the night before at bedtime. He ate his favorite lunch-mashed potatoes, mac-n-cheese, pears and ice cream. He slept on & off the rest of the afternoon and was back to himself when I came home from work.
