Baby Feather-32 weeks

My Sweet Baby Boy-

Wow-32 weeks! I feel like your Daddy & I just found out we were going to have another blessing & now we are on the countdown already. I feel truly blessed to be carrying you, having you develop right inside of me, feel all of your kicks, hits, & hiccups! It is such an amazing experience to have a life growing inside of you.

At 32 weeks you have a definite sleep-and-wake cycle, but your probably sleeping about 70 percent of the time-wish Mommy could get that much sleep! You should also have periods of quiet alertness in which you listen to the exciting sounds beyond your dark little room.

You are roughly 18-19 inches long, weigh about 4 pounds & are the size of a 5-lb. bag of potatoes-no wonder my belly feels so big&heavy! We'll talk to Dr. Rosado on Friday as to the results of our most recent sonogram & see how big you are getting-hopefully not too big.

Mommy's sugar levels have been really good lately & I've found that eating healthier, which I thought I was, isn't really all that bad. Mommy met with a dietician last week for advice & education on gestational diabetes. I learned that I can eat more of a variety of foods-you are probably tired of all of those spinach salads and chicken!

Love you so much already-
Mommy

Baby Songram At 31 Weeks

Aaron & I were blessed once again to have another sonogram of our little one. The extra sonograms are about the only good thing about having a high risk pregnancy!

The technicians are not allowed to tell you anything, so we'll have to wait to talk to our Doctor, but she did let us leave. Dr. Rosado has always said that if there was a concern, the technician is to contact the doctor right away.
Enjoy the pictures of our little blessing! We'll be praying in the meantime for good news!

Baby 31 Weeks

Dear Baby Boy Feather-

You weigh about 3 1/2 pounds this week! You are about 16 inches in length. Your belly is Buddha-like, round and hard because your liver is busily producing red blood cells. Some babies have a full head of hair by the 31st week of pregnancy, while others are bald as eggs. I met you'll have a full head of hair, just like Landon. It's common for babies to hiccup at this stage and for the hiccups to be strong enough to wake Mommy in the middle of the night-this hasn't happened to Mommy yet. Your kicking is becoming harder & if I sit and watch my belly, you create a ripple wave-so neat!

At my appointment for you last week, Dr. Rosado felt Mommy's belly and feels that you have moved out of the breech position-yea!! Your heartbeat was b/w 140-150 & Mommy's belly is measuring good. Mommy's blood pressure was good and my sugar levels were okay. Mommy has really tried to watch what she's eating, even more now. Mommy has an appointment this week w/ a dietician to further discuss my new diet. Mommy & Daddy have a sonogram scheduled on Thursday-we get to see you again-we are very excited!
Love you-
Mommy

Mommy's co-workers had a special Baby Shower for you! Mommy's co-workers/friends, Daddy, Landon, Nana, Pappy, Nanny, Aunt Connie, & Jess were also there. It was very special & everyone was there to celebrate & help Mommy & Daddy prepare for your anxiously awaited debut to the Feather Nest!

The theme of the shower was Feathers, birds, & nests. There were vases on the tables w/ birds on them, nests w/ eggs in them as favors, bird houses, & bird baths.
You received so many awesome gifts-clothes, bath necessities (towels, wash cloths, lotions), diapers, a diaper caddy, rattles, burp clothes, bibs, blankets, hand made blankets & a hat, a bottle brush, stuffed animals, giftcards, a stroller for you & Landon to both ride in together, & a new car seat. Mommy received fantastic gifts too-gift card for a massage, a coffee mug, lotions & shower gels.

Thank you to Everyone who was able to make it & to those who couldn't-your gifts are very much appreciated & we'll make good use of them! Thank you to my amazing friends for having the shower for us-I loved the theme & you all worked so hard-we truly appreciate it!!

Our Little Boy at 30 weeks!

Dear Baby No Name,
These last few weeks have been a little more stressful on Mommy & Daddy-Mommy was diagnosed at 29 weeks with Gestational Diabetes. To you, this just means no more sugar. Mommy really has been watching what she is eating, taking her blood sugar levels 4 times a day and trying to add more exercise into her life, despite wanting to go to bed as soon as I get home from work! Mommy is trying very hard to keep you as healthy as she can.

You have been a busy little guy! You're growing so fast now that if you kept up this rate, you'd weigh more than 200 pounds by your first birthday! In order to accomplish your final growth phase during the 3rd trimester, you will continue to absorb nutrients from Mommy's body: calcium for your skeleton, protein for your muscle growth, and iron for your red blood cell production.

Like most babies, you probably have blue eyes right now. Once your born, your eyes may turn brown after being exposed to the natural sunlight that will finalize pigments in the iris-which will probably happen because your older brother, Landon, eyes did the same thing. For a brief time I thought he may have my eyes, but he's blessed with your Daddy's eyes. The hair on your head may start to grow in now as you finish losing that covering of fine, downy lanugo hair on your body.
Even though your already about as long as you'll be at birth, you will continue to gain weight rapidly as you add a layer of fat to your lanky limbs. Your brain is almost as advanced as a newborn's at full term.

You are about 16.25-17 inches long, weigh about 3 pounds & are the size of a folded, thick wool sweater.

Goodbye Sweets!

All of my fears and worries from my 3-hour glucose test (that I completed last Friday morning) came true when I received a phone call from my physician, Dr. Rosado, late yesterday afternoon-I've been diagnosed with Gestational Diabetes. Two of my results were abnormal, one the cut-off was 95 & I scored a 95 & the second one, the cut-off was 180 & I scored a 183. Although I've been told and read that it is one of the most common health problems of pregnancy, I am still nervous and anxious to see how this hurdle during the pregnancy will affect and/or change things, not to mention the added stressors.

I am now monitoring my glucose levels using a home glucose meter four times a day and monitoring my diet very closely. I will be referred to a dietician for further recommendations/instructions on my diet. Please pray for Aaron as he is a little bummed about all of the favorite comfort foods I will no longer be buying as I will be too tempted if they are in the house! Dr. Rosado informed me that I will begin non-stress tests at 32 weeks, so in about 4 weeks, once a week. She also informed me that I will go for additional sonograms as well.

I ask for your continued prayers for the health of myself and the baby throughout the remainder of the pregnancy.
-Pray that I am able to regulate my blood sugar levels so that I will not have to give myself injections. -Pray that the baby is able to maintain a healthy, normal weight so that we will not have to end up with a difficult delivery or c-section.
-Pray that myself and the baby's blood sugar levels are able to stablize after delivery.
-Pray for my ability to avoid food temptations, such as all of the sweets-easter peanut butter eggs-yummy.

Baby Update-28 weeks

Dear Baby No Name-

We had our baby appointment for you on Wednesday. Mommy went solo this week since Daddy would need to go to work late Friday morning of this week. I was able to listen to your heartbeat, which ranged from 140-149. It was a great appointment-Mommy's blood pressure is down from last week, my belly measurements looked great, my blood work results were good and your sonogram results were good. Dr. Rosada explained that they normaly look to see if the baby is smaller than normal, however you're doing great & big!! Mommy should have another songram in a few weeks.

Mommy went for the 3 hour glucose test on Friday morning. I was at the hospital from 6:30am to 10:15am. They drew my blood when I first arrived to check for the fasting, wasn't able to eat anything after 7pm. Those results came back fine, so Mommy drank the orange, sugar stuff, waited an hour and then had my blood drawn every hour after. My arms were sore when I left! We are anxiously awaiting those results and keeping our fingers crossed for the best!

You are 28 weeks. At the start of the third trimester, the average baby weighs about two and a half pounds and measures 12 to 16 inches. With the big job of organ and nerve development just about wrapped up, your begin gaining weight -- mostly in the form of body fat --very quickly now. The fat will fill out most of the wrinkles in your skin and supply you with insulation and energy.

You are about 15.25-15.75 inches long. You weigh about 2.25-2.5 pounds and you are the size of a pair of sneakers! You are really beginning to be on schedule with your kicking throughout the day. You have a kicking/punching period when Mommy first wakes up in the morning, after breakfast, mid-morning, after lunch, mid afternoon, all throughout the evening and then before Mommy falls asleep. Your kicks/punches are still enjoyable & not painful yet! You let Landon feel a kick/punch this week-his little face lit up! He loves talking to you, as I'm sure you've heard. He asks Mommy everyday 'how's the baby doing'. He's really going to be a great big brother.

We received your changing table this week! Yea! Daddy put it together for you-he did a great job! So now the changing table and crib are ready for you! Your clothes have all been washed up and are awaiting your arrival. Landon loves to go in your room and look at all of the 'little' things, which used to be his. He giggles when I show him clothes that he used to fit into!

We are very excited to meet you-but hang in there for a few more weeks!

Love you,
Mommy

The World Through the Eyes of a Two Year Old

Landon continues to amaze me on a daily basis with the comments and things that he comes up with! Yesterday while we were on our drive home from Debbie's, we passed a small, yellow bus and a regular size bus. And in his little voice said 'Mommy, I will ride the big bus someday and my baby brother will ride the little bus someday'. He just amazes me as to how he views the world-to him because he'll be the older, big brother, he'll ride the 'big bus' and his brother will be younger and smaller, so he'll ride the 'little bus'.

He makes me take a step back and enjoy the world through his eyes-a world so pure and simple.
